WORD|of the day
[majuscule] noun; refers to a large letter, as in a capital letter (from a Latin word meaning "rather large")
I ran across this word and had never heard it used before. It's odd to me that there is a word for "a capital letter" -- couldn't one just call it a capital letter? I like it though... I'm going to try to use it today. I'm sure it's related to "minuscule" but that word doesn't only refer to letters.
QUOTE|of the day
[Man is the only animal that laughs and weeps, for he is the only animal that is struck with the difference between what things are and what they ought to be.]
William Hazlitt
